What an exciting day! Tony (Brooke's cousin) came to visit us on his way back to SC and we decided to head over to Keeneland Horse Track for the morning. We got to see the racetrack and watch the horses warm up for the day's race. Kate followed the horses as
they would run by in amazement! Then we headed over to the barn area and watched the owners get each horse ready. They were getting their legs taped, a quick bath and eating lots of hay. As we were watching one group of horses a man asked if we wanted to
pet the horse...so Kate got to pet her first horse today! It was funny, the horse kept sniffing her and she giggled each time...I think it was the air coming out of the horses nose that made her laugh. She did great! We did not stay for the races since they did not start until later in the afternoon, but we took a ride through the surrounding horse farms. ..this is a beautiful area! We were so glad that Tony was able to see a little part of Lexington. He loves horses and has two of his own...we can't wait to meet them when we come to SC. Although we did not bet on the races, our favorite horse was the one we got to pet...which I named Smokey.
