Wow! This weekend was one to go down in the books as one of the best weekends ever! Our families came into town to celebrate Kate's 1st birthday (Friday, Oct 10th) & Dave's 30th birthday (Sunday, Oct 12th)...so we celebrated with a party on Saturday! it was so much fun! Our "theme" was monkeys...and monkeys were EVERYWHERE (you can see in the pics below). We had a monkey on the invites, monkey party favors, a 5 foot monkey to greet everyone as they walked in the door, a monkey cake for Kate, a banana dirt cake (Dave's signature birthday cake) guarded by an ape, a monkey toss game, monkey hair bows for all the girls, banana puffs and Gerber banana cookies for the babies and much more...it was so much fun!!! Kate loved her cake, however, favored the icing the most, she ate all the icing "hair" off the monkey's head. Kate received alot of very special gifts from clothes, to blocks, books, puzzles, an ABC spinner and much more from her friends. Her Papa and Grandma Moore gave her a princess ride on toy and some very cute outfits, her Daddy Bo and Grana gave her a ball pit, a shopping cart and a special dress to have her 1 year picture taken in. I gave her a beanbag with her name on it, Dave gave her a guitar (which she LOVES) and Bailey gave her a flip phone, Aunt Caroline gave her her first baby doll, Uncle Brian and family gave her the first year sheep to the her precious moments train and Aunt Shelly and Uncle Brandon gave her a sweet picture frame of them and her and a very special book for all of her birthday memories. I am so happy that our family got to come up and then our Lexington family were able to join us...thank you all for making it all so special.
After the party we had a babysitter come and stay with Kate and we took Dave out for a very special dinner. To his surprise sitting on the table when we got to dinner was a special gift...who was it from?? From all of us we wanted to get Dave a special gift for his 30th and so we got the one thing he has always wanted but never gotten...a Movado watch. We wrapped it in a few boxes and by the time he got to the last box he was sure it was a gift card or something at the end, but when he unwrapped the last box he saw the Movado watch and was in disbelief...he was so surprised and so happy! It was a highlight of the day! We enjoyed our dinner with family and our friends John E. and Kat to celebrate the big 3-0!
to our surprise when we got home Kate was up and in full force...we now know how sugar affects her...she was a wild woman up till 11:00 when we forced her to calm down and go to bed...it was a great ending to a great day...she gave us many laughs!
